Stay active for all the right reasons

8 weeks and 2 days ago I went down very hard on my bike during a race. I suffered four broken ribs, a punctured lung, a broken hand, a broken collarbone and a severe concussion. My head hit the pavement hard, very hard. I spent four nights in the hospital under heavy medication. I have since had a surgery on my hand and collarbone.

Every single doctor and nurse told me that I was lucky, 1.) I was not hurt worse and 2.) I was in decent shape so recovery should go smooth. 

Nearly everyone in my life asked if I'd ride again. My answer was always a quick yes, of course. Everyone has something, whether it's yoga, religion, swimming, running, reading... my thing is the bike. It's a place that allows me to get some air, exercise with friends and most importantly, clear my head. This clarity allows me to stay productive, block out distractions and get things done!

This morning I stepped back on the bike for the first time and tapped out an hour with a couple friends. I can already tell it's going to be a great day. 

Find your something and stick with it!
